ADDISON

Addison

AGE: Six months

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Addison, a rambunctious Boxer pup!  I came into rescue because I was part of an "oops" litter. I love to play, of course. I snore, I fart - typical Boxer stuff. I'm also very affectionate whenever I stop to do that sort of thing.  I'm smart, too. The other thing my foster family wants you to know is that I'm already working towards being a bossy adult. They just don't want you to get all starry-eyed because I'm a puppy because, like most female Boxers, I'm planning to be as bossy as I can get away with. Heck, I'm already pretty impressed with myself!

HOUSEBROKEN? Somewhat

TRAINING? Obedience classes are a requirement for adopting me. (The rescue requires obedience classes for all dogs three and under.)

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? Yes

GOOD WITH DOGS? Yes

GOOD WITH CATS? Yes (though I may chase them)

ANUBIS

Anubis

AGE: Eleven months

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Anubis! I was surrendered because my former owner passed away (Bolo is my bro). Anubis is the Greek god of the afterlife, in case you wondered. I also answer to Nubs. Call me whatever you want, just don't call me late for dinner. Ha! I'm a playful, energetic sort of guy. I'm crate-trained and potty-trained. Much like my brother, I do need training. My foster mom says that I bounce off the walls and then come in for a landing for a snuggle.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

BRITTANY

Brittany

AGE: Senior

MY STORY: Hello, my name is Brittany. I was picked up as a stray in Milwaukee. The people in Milwaukee contacted Green Acres Boxer Rescue and well . . . here I am! I'm a petite fawn colored female. I'm currently living with two kids that I love to hang out with. I also have two furry brothers. I got along with one immediately, but it took about one week for the other one and I to be able to share the love seat. I've recently had a suspicious spot/lump removed off each of my front legs. My stitches are out and my fur is growing back nicely. My foster mom describes me as "an absolute delight." She says that I am completely housetrained and don't have any bad habits (i.e. jumping up on visitors, counter surfing etc.) I enjoy spending time with my humans and taking naps. I entertain my foster family by "talking" with them, which always makes them laugh.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? No formal training, but am well behaved and know several commands.

CASSIDY

Cassidy

AGE: Four months

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Cassidy Jane!  And yes, I'm a wild and crazy puppy!  I came into rescue from a shelter.  My owner surrendered me because they noticed that I do this odd bunny hop thing when I'm running around. They were concerned that I have a health issue, which I'll explain in a second. So, it's important that you keep reading and not just think: "MUST. HAVE. PUPPY."  First off, I have a lot of joie de vivre.  That means "joy of life" in case you don't speak French as well as I do. I love playing with the other dogs in my foster home. I love hanging out with the kids who live here, too. I love sneaking into unattended rooms to poop (hey, I'm a puppy!) I like to cuddle when I'm not busy de-stuffing my doggie pillow.  My foster dad says I crate well. I like to chew on stuff (both stuff that I'm allowed to chew on as well as stuff that does not actually belong to me). Now for the other stuff.  Although I have every intention of leading a looooong and active life, there are a couple of things to know.  One, I have a heart murmur.  It's a grade 3.  Many times, puppies have heart murmurs that dissipate as they get older. I'm still a puppy, so it's hard to know.  Second, I do have something potentially going on with my knees/hips (kinda like they didn't put me together quite right at the factory). The rescue people took me to some doctor people. The x-rays don't reveal any obvious issues at this time. The x-rays show some possible irregular movement in my knees, but no one will know for sure until I stop growing. Once I am older (and have stopped growing) more will be known about my growth plates, joints, etc.  I don't want to scare you away, because I really need a home, but I also want to make sure you know I will need more testing in the future. I'd like to think that my excessive cuteness will more than compensate for any challenges the future may hold.

HOUSEBROKEN? Ha ha!

DJ **ADOPTION PENDING!**

DJ

AGE: Two and a half years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm DJ! I was adopted from the rescue in 2008. I was returned because my owner's other dog died, and I don't do well as an only dog. Needless to say, my new home must have another dog in it. My foster mom says that I am sweet, playful, and energetic. I'm an all-around great dog, if I do say so myself!

JODY

Jody

AGE: Approx. five years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Jody! I came into rescue as a stray, although it's a mystery how someone could misplace a sweet, pretty girl like me.  I love belly rubs and playing with plush toys. I also enjoy walks and car r-i-d-e-s! I do have some kidney issues and require a special diet. Of course, I can repay that in cuddles and kisses.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? I would benefit from obedience classes.

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? I came into rescue as a stray and for safety reasons the rescue does not place stray dogs in homes with small children. Although Boxers are generally known to be good with children, applicants with children under the age of five should limit their search to dogs that have a proven history with small children.

JOE **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Joe

AGE: Six years

MY STORY: Hey, whaddya know, I'm Joe! My handsome mug may look familar to you.  I was adopted last year but then was returned because my owner developed allergies. I'm a mellow, middle-aged fellow.  If you are looking for someone to watch American Idol with you at night, I'm your man. I love to eat and give kisses. I also love a good nap. And finally, nothing thrills me more than a R-I-D-E in the C-A-R.  What I don't really dig is being alone for long stretches. I'd love to find a new home where someone is around quite a bit. I just know I'll make a great companion for the right family/individual.

MACK

Mack

AGE: Approximately two years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Mack! You can call me Mack, Macaroni, Macaroon, Big Mac, etc. (not Mackerena, the bad dance from the 90's) I came from a shelter.  When my foster dad sprang me from the shelter, I was extremely fearful. I didn't know what to do, so I just froze. My foster family worked with me to make me feel comfortable in their home. It appeared as though I had never even seen a toy or treat before. attention to the dogs. But allof that has changed! I now try to wiggle into any lap I can find. I play with the dogs and with the kids who live in my foster home. I can do the kidney bean dance with the best of 'em. My foster dad says that I am very sweet and affectionate. I love to run through the house at top speed and get my ya-ya's out.

MONTANA **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Montana

AGE: Three years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Montana! I was surrendered to rescue because my former owners got divorced and neither could take me with them to their respective apartments. I now live in a foster home with two Boxers, one small child, and two grown-ups.  My foster mom started calling me Humpy McHumperton when I arrived, because I kept trying to violate her dogs. Then she sent me in for surgery and suddenly I lost the urge to hump my friends. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Here is some other stuff my foster mom wants you to know about me: I'm not deaf (like some of my white brethren are), I have exceptionally soft fur, I'm crate-trained, potty-trained, and cute. I'm all that!

Moose

AGE: Three years

MY STORY:  Hi there, I'm Moose! I am the typical three year old Boxer boy who loves attention and loves to play! I was surrendered to a shelter because my human sibling became allergic to me or one of the cats.  I know it wasn't me!  My foster mom says that I am trained very well; I know all my commands and I don't jump!  I am now looking for my forever home where there are plenty of toys, treats and a warm bed to snuggle.

NICK

Nick

AGE: Somewhere between four and seven years (no kidding!)

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Nick!  I came into rescue as a stray, which is why my age is such a mystery. My energy level and teeth indicate that I'm young. My grey muzzle leads one to believe that I'm closer to middle age. Who knows - I sure don't keep track! I love to play play play!  I'll keep playing until all the other dogs in my foster home become exhausted and give up.  When I'm done playing, I flop over on my back just in case anyone would like to give me a belly rub.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? I would benefit from obedience classes.

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? I came into rescue as a stray and for safety reasons the rescue does not place stray dogs in homes with small children. PEACHES **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Peaches

AGE: One year

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Peaches! I came into rescue after my former owner was killed when our house burned down. I made it out alive, though I did smell a bit smoky for a while there. There are lots of things I want to tell you about me. For starters, I am big. Way big. Like most young Boxers, I'm energetic and fun-loving. I'm also a runner and would probably fare best in a fenced yard. I'm good with kids, but need supervision due to my size and energy level. I love the snow!  I'm a native Wisconsinite to the core! I'm looking for an energetic, patient pack leader who can keep up with (and train) a Boxer girl like me! I'm a sweet chick who craves attention, but as you can understand, I've been through a lot lately. I'll just do some laps in the yard while I wait for my second chance to come along . . .

PRESLEY

Presley

AGE: Six years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Presley!  As in, "Elvis has left the building." I am a very energetic six-year-old.  I was surrendered because my former family didn't have time for me anymore. My former family said that I sometimes have accidents in the house, but I've been in my foster home for a couple weeks now and have not had an accident. I LOVE balls and being around people and other dogs.  I am doing great in my foster home with a sassy female (I don't mind being bossed around, AT ALL!) and a young Boxer boy - we love to run around and play!  My mom says that I crate well, listen well and I am good boy all the time.  I can be a bit skittish when you first meet me, but I warm right up. If you bring me a ball, I'll warm up even faster!

RALPH **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Ralph

AGE: Approximately four years

MY STORY:  Hi, I'm Ralph! Or you can call me Ralphie if you'd like. I was a stray in the Chicago area and the rescue folks asked if I'd like to come to Wisconsin.  So, here I am. My foster mom says I am affectionate and very playful. I also love to cuddle.  I love car rides, too.  The only thing I don't really like is being in my crate.  When I find a new family, it would be a plus if someone is home quite a bit.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

SPENCER **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Spencer

AGE: Ten to twelve years

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Spencer! I was surrendered to a shelter because my family had a new baby who grew into a toddler, and soon there was no place in the family for this old guy.  Now, normally a senior like me would expect to be cooling my heels in rescue for quite a long time.  However, there is something about me and my expressive eyes that makes the ladies melt. Every chick who meets me just frets over me like I don't know what. So, I was in my new foster home for about ten minutes when my new family announced that I was home for good. So there you have it.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? Learning to sit is for the young punks

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? Yes, but I've had enough of the really short ones, I'm afraid.

TASHA

Tasha

AGE: One year

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Tasha!  I came into rescue because my former owner did not have enough time for me (they weren't home much). I'm a very sweet girl, although a bit on the timid side. I love attention and will crawl into any lap I can find. I love playing with the kids who live in my foster home (or even just watching them play). I love everyone and everything . . . except cats.  Other than that, I'm just an all-around great dog!

TINA

Tina

AGE: One year

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Tina! I was surrendered to a shelter late one night because I am deaf. The nice people from GABR took me in. Now I have two foster boxer brothers and a nice soft place to sleep. Being deaf, I have a few additional requirements in order to adopt me. My new home must have a hearing dog to act as my ears and a completely, above ground, fenced-in yard. My new family must agree to take me to obedience classes so we can learn hand signals together. I like to be close to my foster Boxer brothers; they are very tolerant of my bossy personality. My foster mom lovingly calls me the white tornado as I never sit still very long and love to play with tug toys. Prior dog/boxer experience is a plus. I am crate trained, but I need to be able to see my Boxer brothers, or I get anxious. My foster mom crates us all in the same room. I would love a Boxer brother to play with. I know the basic hand signals and I go to obedience class with my foster mom.

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? Obedience classes are a requirement for adopting me. (The rescue requires obedience classes for all dogs three and under.)

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? Yes - but I am high energy, so older children would be best.

GOOD WITH DOGS? Yes

GOOD WITH CATS? Maybe. There are cats in my foster home and I chased them, but I don't hurt them. I like to bark at them.

TRIXIE **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Trixie

AGE: Six months

MY STORY: Hi, I'm Trixie, a typical Boxer puppy (a party waiting to happen). According to my foster mom, I spend most of my spare time rolling around on the floor and bouncing off the furniture with my foster sister.  I loves to be outside, even in the snow.  I demands a lot of attention and interaction, but once I'm worn out I am super affectionate.  My foster mom says that I snuggle and grunt and snore. What can I say - I'm a lady!

HOUSEBROKEN? Not quite, but I'm working on it!

TRAINING? Obedience classes are a requirement for adopting me. (The rescue requires obedience classes for all dogs three and under.)

TUFF **ADOPTION PENDING!**

Tuff

AGE: Four years

MY STORY: Hi there! I'm Tuff and I am a sturdy, active guy who is a really good running partner. It's ok if running isn't your thing, I am happy to take long walks too! I was recently surrendered to the rescue because I was marking in the house. My foster home is happy to report that I have not had accidents in the house. I do appreciate when people pay a lot of attention to me and spend time with me. I am not a big fan of my crate and count the minutes until people come home to hang out with me. There are two Boxers in my foster home and I like to be the leader of the pack. I don't mind sharing my toys and my humans, but I just want the others to know that I am "numero uno". There also are two human children in my foster home and I really enjoy getting attention (and treats) from them as well. My size and strength does tend to intimidate the younger kid in the house from time to time, but I am just a big love-bug, so "it's all good".

HOUSEBROKEN? Yes

TRAINING? I would certainly benefit from some training classes.

GOOD WITH CHILDREN? Yes

GOOD WITH DOGS? Yes

**What does "Adoption Pending" mean?
It means that an applicant is in the process of adopting the dog. Sometimes you may see this designation next to a dog's name for several weeks. Although the adoption process usually only takes a week or so, there are some cases where we have to wait for a dog to complete a medical treatment (or finish a heat cycle) before we can place the dog.
